The Introductory Finance Society (IFS) at Carnegie Mellon University is an educational club dedicated to providing underclassmen with a foundational understanding of the financial services landscape and investment management careers. Through a curriculum of teach-ins on asset classes, financial concepts, and technical skills, IFS offers students a comprehensive introduction to the world of finance. The club also features guest speakers from the industry, providing members with valuable insights and real-world perspectives.

Fall Semester

During the fall semester, IFS teach-ins focus on fundamental investing in corporates, centering around using DCF and multiples analysis as a framework for the final Stock Pitch Competition at the end of the Semester.

Spring Semester

During the spring semester, IFS teach-ins focus on the sales and trading industry. IFS hosts its annual Trade Pitch Competition at the end of the semester where students demonstrate what they’ve learned.
